For people with type 2 diabetes (or even prediabetes!), the Reversing Diabetes app is the most effective eating plan to manage blood sugar and lose weight because of its elegant simplicity.

The app is based on The 8 Week Blood Sugar Diet by Dr. Michael Mosley, which itself is largely based on research by Professor Roy Taylor, a diabetes specialist at New Castle University. The food component of the diet is largely based on eating a low carbohydrate Mediterranean diet with lots of non starchy veggies, protein, and moderate amounts of healthy fats like olive oil, nuts, seeds, and even full fat dairy like cheese.

Dr. Mosely writes in his latest book, The Fast 800, that the results of the DIRECT study run by Professor Taylor were published in 2018 in The Lancet, a medical journal. Nearly half of the individuals who followed an 800 calorie diet brought their blood sugars back to normal, despite coming off all their diabetes drugs. Mosley writes, “the more weight they lost, the higher their chance of bringing their pancreas back to life: 86% of those who lost more than 15 kg went into remission (i.e. their blood sugars returned to normal despite the fact they had come off all medication)."

Phase 1 in Reversing Diabetes is an 800 calorie diet that can be followed for up to 8 weeks. You are likely to have the most dramatic results in this phase. If it’s too extreme for you, you can always decide to begin the program in Phase 2 which consists of 5 days eating a low carb style Mediterranean diet and 2 days of 800 calories. Phase 3 is designed for maintenance and includes one day per week of 800 calories.

All phases consist of real food. No need to count anything or spend time figuring out what to eat! Simply follow the menus and go live your best life!

You MUST discuss this program with your doctor, especially if you are pregnant, elderly, ill, and/or on any type of medications.
